Textile Love @ Firehouse
Vulture Collective presents:
TEXTILE LOVE
@ Firehouse, 3rd Wednesdays, 6-8PM, ALL YEAR LONG!
textile love: he act of showing the clothes you already own some love by using simple techniques to extend their life and keep them longer.
WE BRING: the tools and know-how to make “sustainable fashion” fun, easy, convenient, and cheap! Each month we facilitate beginner-level activities that repair, repurpose, or renew existing clothes and textiles.
YOU BRING: old clothes and textiles in need of love.
Why do we need to show our clothes love? Clothing (textile) waste is a *ginormous* global problem. So big, piles of textile waste are literally visible to satellites in orbit!
What's with the "vulture" thing? Vulture Collective believes in scavenging our wardrobes for "textile waste" because the most sustainable clothes are the ones we already own.
Extending the life of the clothes you already own is the easiest way to build a sustainable wardrobe.
Did you know, adding nine (9) months of wear to a garment in your closet reduces the environmental impact of its production by approximately 30%? And that's not all, finding creative ways to repair, repurpose, or renew or clothes and textiles can help us fall in love with some of our favorite clothes all over again, even if this time around it's a pillow, or a tote, or fur-baby's lovey...you get the picture ;)
**I see that delicately folded garment stashed in the back of your closet that you can't bear to part with, but fear it's too well-loved to wear without damaging it. Bring it in and let's chat! <3
